Varanasi is the oldest city of the World. Kashi
and Banaras are the two other popular names of
city. Kashi is the most scared city and is abode
of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Eventually this

existence of Kashi city which one is older.
Banaras is the most holly city of Hindus for being
the home of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Varanasi
is also among the Buddhist pilgrimage destinations

sermon after enlightenment. Parsvanath, the
twenty-third Tirthankar of Jain religion were born

Celebrations : Being a religious city
Varanasi is the place of on going celebrations
through out the year. However some of most
popular festivals celebrated at Kashi are :
Dev Deepavali :
Celebrated on fifteenth day of Deepavali
[October - November] as the tribute to the
river Ganga and falls on the same day with
Guru Nanak Jayanti [Kartik Purnima].
Teppam Festival : goes for 12 days in
January/February.
Dhrupad Mela
: Five day musical festival held annually in
the month of March.
