Dhalipur Lake created from the construction of Dhalipur power house at the confluence of the river Yamuna & Asan is the Paradise of bird watchers in India. Small [4 sq km] man-made Assan reservoir has been developed as the one of best bird birding place in north India and popularly known as the Assan Barrage Bird Sanctuary. Location and easy accessibility from hill resort Dehradoon has made Assan Bird Sanctuary most visited birds home in north India. At the Assan Bird Sanctuary 53 species of water birds are observed out of which 19 are Himalayan migratory birds which halt here during October and November on their way to southern India and while late February and March on their way back to home.
